I checked US list prices, battery ratings and AI features on Apple's, Google's, Samsung's and Soundcore's own pages and on price trackers on October 19, 2026, then cross-checked sound and ANC against independent reviews from SoundGuys, What Hi-Fi?, Tom's Guide and Digital Trends. These are the AI earbuds most iPhone owners should buy now. Apple launched AirPods 5 on September 18 at $129, the price of the old AirPods 4 without noise cancelling, and every model now has ANC. The $149 version adds a wireless charging case and volume swipes on the stem.
The AI part is real. Paired with an Apple Intelligence iPhone (iPhone 15 Pro or later), AirPods 5 run Live Translation for in-person conversations and Apple's new Siri features. The trade-off is the open fit: there are no silicone tips, so low rumble gets through, and Apple says AirPods Pro 3 cancel up to three times more noise. Battery is up to 4 hours with ANC on.

There's no head-turning AI here, and the codecs stop at SBC and AAC, so Android owners don't get LDAC. What you do get is Sony's warm tuning, a full app with EQ, and battery life that reviewers rated as excellent. The case is bulkier than the last model.

Bose designed the guts of these: the drivers, the acoustic tuning and the licensed ear tips and fins come from the $299 QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds. Reviewers at SoundGuys, Rolling Stone and Digital Trends all landed in the same place: some of the best sound at this price, with ANC that handles street noise well.
Among these AI earbuds they carry the least AI, so my label is plain: smart noise cancelling, no assistant tricks. The two common complaints are the long, jumbo case and call quality that drops once the room gets loud.

EarFun Air Pro 4

The AI is in the ANC and the call noise filter, both handled by EarFun's app. Digital Trends found its sound close to Soundcore's pricier models. The catch: switching on Auracast means turning off LDAC and aptX first.

How does AI noise cancelling work in earbuds?
Fit decides more than the chip. Sealed in-ear AI earbuds like the Sony, Pixel and Soundcore picks block steady low rumble best. Open-fit AirPods 5 can only cancel part of it because there's no tip to seal your ear, which is why Apple still sells the AirPods Pro 3 above them.
For calls, the same idea runs in reverse: extra mics and a noise model pick out your voice and turn down the street behind you. That's the "AI calls" claim on most boxes, and it's where the cheapest pairs fall furthest behind.

Before you pair any AI earbuds, check what the companion app asks for. Microphone access is needed for calls and translation; location and contacts usually aren't.
